BLACtresses is name of double significance.
Parte uno: I live in NYC and here, we have a cute name for African-American actresses such as myself: BLACTRESS! (BLACk + ACTRESS, get it?) After graduating with a degree in opera, I crossed over to the musical theatre world and have been working ever since! I love it. After a couple of national tours and performing at regional theaters both domestically and overseas, I decided that it was time to head to the great New York, New York to see what I could do for myself. Join me on my journey through this concrete jungle to see if this actually can be the place where my dreams are made of! Next stop? Broadway!
Parte dos: Many of my blog inspirations have come from women of color who write of both the triumphs and tragedies that they experience daily with their hair. I, too, am a natural hair sistah and I hope to chronicle my hair journey with you here, thus, there will be many articles about my and other’s “black tresses.”
Cute, right? I was so excited when the idea came to me late one night when I should have been sleeping lol.
